Intertemporal Hevre @ Audio Art Festival 2018 – Krakow
IntertemporalHevre www.audio.art.pl
An immersive site-specific installation at HEVRE,
a former House of Prayer and Talmudic school, belonging to the organization named “Hewra Thilim”, in the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz in Krakow.
_Re-commanding a physical building to its full history, without touching its physical architecture, it is, on one hand, a metaphorical process; and our event was indeed a radical inclusivity symbolic action: Hebrew was (back-to-be) the main linguistic conductor; Yiddish often appeared as a prosodic memory, and music, visuals, soundscapes, all entangled as augmenting perceptual lenses. On the other hand, we explored once again the potential of media architecture, its dynamic and multisensorial capacity to shorten the gap between ideal worlds and their implementation. If extensive/intensive education is the only way out of brutalist and clannish biases, symbolic architecture is a powerful tool to experiment with an immediate “open and multi-historical” society. Intertemporal Ethics is then a rhetoric figure and place, to help to attenuate human reductionism and its substantial lack of organic integral -non-fashionable- memory.

InterTemporalHevre
_A ProsodicImmersivePlace: :
the Hebrew/Yiddish/Polish linguistic model for RadicalInclusivity
series:
InterTemporalEthics&SymbolicSpaces
from the Lorenzo Brusci’s IH_lecture:Music Academy of Krakow, 21 November 2018.
“We will design a linguistic immersive place, a prosodicHabitat, a model of and for experimental coexistence.
Microphones will be open to Hebrew, Yiddish, and Polish speakers; a multichannel reverberating system will spatialise and transfigure and morph all discourses.
A site-specific intervention, re-assigning Hevre old and new missions,
as praying, teaching, singing, listening, meeting, absorbing, learning, sharing…
in other words, using the power of linguistic prosody, We will transmute the current material Hevre and give it a ultra-temporal meaning.
Visitors could interact with the symbolic “cantors”, and are invited to become one of them, but using the 3 languages and possibly their natural original sources contributing to their eastern European varieties, including German, Russian, Polish, Lithuanian, Hungarian word and phrases.
Intertemporal-Hevre will be an overall poetic context, not an analytical one, especially due to the reverberating action and the morphing strategies deployed.
We will also video-wall a non-philological visual flow: inside and outside, before and after, all will be intertwined…
